Enterprise Physical Security

Enterprise Physical Security plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of the campus community through the strategic infrastructure development and deployment of physical security technologies.

Our Services

The department helps create a secure environment for students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors across the University enterprise by maintaining and expanding life-safety protection programs.

Enterprise Physical Security is responsible for the safety and security infrastructure for all U-M properties. Physical security infrastructure consists of an array of technologies, including:

  • Video management systems
  • Security cameras
  • Alarm systems
  • Access control systems
  • Emergency blue light phones
  • Security monitoring technologies
  • Barriers, bollards, and other physical safety measures
Our Approach

Enterprise Physical Security demonstrates its dedication by designing and strategically deploying physical security technologies across campus to safeguard the University of Michigan.

By employing university and industry best practices, risk analysis, threat mitigation, and state-of-the-art security technologies, the department delivers well-regarded and recognized security to U-M's Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Flint and Detroit campuses, Michigan Medicine and other university properties.

The department maintains DPSS's Physical Security Standards and technology guidelines to help ensure public safety infrastructure resources are deployed appropriately and where needed.
